Because here’s the truth:

Resolutions don’t work.
Vision boards are great, but they don’t make you brave.
And picking a “word of the year” won’t change a thing if you’re not willing to act on the desire beneath it.

If you want a different year, you have to want differently.

Not safely. Not politely.

Not in that “I’ll just see what happens” way you default to when you’re afraid to want too much.

Your life isn’t shaped by the goals you set – it’s shaped by the desires you’re willing to admit.

Most artists don’t have a talent or a strategy problem. They have a desire problem.

They stay in the realm of “maybe later,” “when I’m ready,” or “when the kids are gone.”

So they keep wanting… safely. Shrunken wants. Sanitized wants.
Wants that don’t threaten anything. Wants that won’t disappoint anyone.

Wants that won’t require them to be seen, paid, or powerful.

But here’s the thing:

Safe wants don’t transform your career. Real wants do.

Real wants require you to take up space. To be visible. To admit you want more than you currently have – more money, more opportunities, more visibility, more space to create… and to stop apologizing for it.

If you want a different year, you can’t keep wanting like someone bracing for disappointment.

You have to want like the artist who’s done pretending they’re not powerful.
