PICTURE THIS:
You’re standing in a room of your art with someone who is really engaged with it.
It could be anywhere - an exhibition, your studio or an art fair booth.
They can’t quite say why they love it.They just do.
An excitement starts to rise up in your belly. Butterflies!
And you think to yourself, “Holy sh!t! This person might actually want to buy it.”
Before the excitement can take hold it transforms into a kind of dread. Your mind races:
“What do I say next?” “What if they think it’s too expensive?”
“What if I say the wrong thing?”
You fumble around for something to say and end up saying too much. The potential buyer has lost interest and before you know it they’re gone.
"What just happened?!?"
The same person is interested, but this time you know what to say.
You start by asking them clever questions—ones that help them to think more deeply about why this particular piece of art resonates with them.
Before you know it, they are asking about the price of the work.
You tell them the price with confidence.
You don’t offer a discount.
You don’t say anything to devalue your work.
The person in front of you agrees to the price and is ready to pull out their credit card.
Thinking to yourself, “How does it get any better than this???”
you smile broadly and finalize the details of the sale.
Sadly, few of us artists are taught how to do this. I know it.
I've been there myself. There was a time when I gave away my work
and underpriced it.
I had the wealth consciousness of a discarded penny.
I didn't believe that I deserved more.
Fast forward to now. I price my art confidently.
And ask for what I need.
I’ve sold everything from large-scale paintings to commissioned drawings, limited edition art books and catalogues. I’ve received 8+ grants and raised over $13,000 in a successful Crowdfunding campaign.
Getting paid to make art is possible.
It starts with jettisoning the limiting beliefs that are holding you back and learning the ins and outs of pricing and selling art (the sacred way).
“I am in a much more sustainable place, I trust myself and my inner creative process much more.
I made the most money I made in my business. I did things that I procrastinated on for years—publishing a book, organizing a national storytelling event, and I made it back to Paris.”
—Isabelle Rizo, Chicago, IL

“Jessica’s method of doing the internal work combined with the external work – in the painting process itself all the way through to presenting it to the world—is invaluable. I know who my Divine Right Audience is and what the messages of my paintings are.I’m feeling so much more confident!”
—Wolfgang Hermann, Richmond, VA
“I have developed multiple venues for sharing and showing my work. I am an individual grant recipient and an international artist. My work is currently included in a group show of women’s work at the Museum of Northern California entitled Persistence, and I recently completed my first
